About the sculptor in his own words. I was Born in 1961 just north of Atlanta Ga. I lived there, in Roswell Georgia, until I finished high school in 1980 and enlisted in the US Navy. Serving for 5 years on a US naval aircraft carrier, I visited 14 countries and experienced so many places and things I would have otherwise only dreamed about. While in the service, I also attended college at Berkley and studied film. I would later put that to use in 1999 when I would produce and direct my first feature length film. Between 1999 and 2015 I produced & directed 8 feature films, 14 short films, and a couple of documentaries. Lions Gate went on to distribute one of my feature films, and I won film festival awards with several others.  Just recently I was awarded a lifetime achievement award by the Something Wicked film festival in Atlanta Georgia. During my filmmaking years I did most of my own practical and special effects including monster make up and gore effects, I also won a few awards for that. in 2015 after completion of my last feature film “All Hallows Evil” I called it quits and retired from filmmaking after 15 years. It was a hard decision. I really did enjoy my filmmaking career, but it was a tough life, and it had begun to take a toll on me as I grew older.

Now, once again, I have fallen back on my art and love of horror and Halloween, this time expressing my passion in a different medium. sculpting, and folk art. I have been working on this for several years now.

Then in September of 2019 I was dealt a major setback. After an evening of sculpting I felt a bad pain in my chest. I had to be rushed to the emergency room, where I was diagnosed with a dissected aorta. It was almost the end of the line for me, but I was very lucky. I had some super great doctors who brought me back from the brink, and saved my life. To this day I am still recovering but doing a bit better as I continue to heal. I have returned to my sculpting which is what I now do for a living.  It’s really hard for an old guy like me with medical issues to find real work, especially in a Covid19 world, but at least I am doing something I love. I also play guitar, and I find that and sculpting, are two great ways to relax and release stress.

Just recently I have started working on a project for Zagone Studios, who make some of the most amazing Halloween masks in the world. A great family owned business with all of their products made here in the USA. Hopefully i will be able to bring to life some of their iconic creatures in the form of mini statues. I am certainly looking forward to the challenge ahead. I hope to have many more years of being able to create “creepy creatures in clay”
